You might not know it, but a multiple award-winning singer and songwriter hangs her hat just a little bit south of Abilene.
Her music focuses on the women of the American west, and she's called the "Songbird of the Prairie."
This week's On the Range takes us inside the music of Jean Prescott.
Jean's songs represent the courage of the Women of the American West, who also go unsung. Prescott has won several prestigious awards, including the American Cowboy Culture Award for 2006 for western music.
Prescott has 10 or 11 albums, including one featuring her husband, and another Gospel album she recorded with the help of a group of women from New Mexico and Arizona.
Jean Prescott is indeed an ambassador for cowboy music, and has earned the title of "Songbird of the Prairie."
