Forecasters: Drought Persists Into Spring

By: Chris Whited, KRBC Meteorologist
Updated: March 2, 2009
Long range climate forecasts from the u-s government predict no relief for the drought stricken areas of West Texas. The 90-day outlook from the National Weather Service for the months of March, April and May indicated that drought conditions are likely to persist across this area of Texas.

The spring months are normally a wet period for the big country, but the data suggests that precipitation chances will remain below normal. The Big country remains classified under "severe stage" drought conditions on the U.S. Drought Monitor.
