A Dayton, Ohio mother has been ticketed for breast-feeding her baby while driving.

Gennie Compton got the ticket after a passing motorist said he saw Compton breast-feeding her baby while driving, an accusation she doesn't deny.

Compton said when 1-year-old Ayriel is hungry, she can't wait to breast feed her and it doesn't matter if she's driving a car.

"When my baby wants to eat, she wants to eat and I'm not gonna listen to that all across town to Kettering and back everyday," she said.

Compton received her ticket for not having her young child in a seat restraint.

Police said state law requires a child under 4 years old or under 40 pounds to be in a safety seat.

Whether she was breast-feeding or not it's still against the law not to have your child secure while driving.

"We have no issue with her breast feeding in public," said Kettering Officer Michael Burke. "Our concern is for the safety of the child."

Compton said she doesn't deserve the ticket because a police officer didn't witness the offense.
