Are people sacrificing their pennies to turn them in to dollars? Or are lottery tickets a luxury that will fall by the wayside? When a question on lottery sales generated on our community forum, we went to check it out.
According to numbers submitted by the Texas Lottery Commission, the lottery generated $61 million less in the first half of the 2009 fiscal year (August 2008 to February 2009) than it did in the first half of the 2008 fiscal year.
It reflects a drop of 3.4 percent.
Compare that to the increase of 0.32 percent from fiscal year 2007 to 2008.
