Out of Work? Paid Job Training.

By: Laura Kellerman
Updated: March 3, 2009
Several agencies are working together to provide a fast track to becoming a correctional officer, in order to reduce unemployment numbers.

Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas is providing financial assistance for those who enter the pre-service training through the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Institutional Division.  The money goes toward housing, meals, and some travel mileage.

Eligible workers can also receive a $1,500 signing bonus.

More information will become available at a press conference Thursday afternoon.
