Garage Fire Spreads to Grass

By: Laura Kellerman
Updated: March 6, 2009
A detached garage in the 3500 block of Hickory Street caught fire this morning, which quickly spread to the grass.

When Abilene firefighters arrived, smoke was billowing from the garage, said AFD Lt. Greg Goettsch.

It took 18 firefighters 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze both in the garage and the grass.  A short in an electrical wire is the likely culprit.

No one was injured.
