Writing the Bible

By: Courtnee Hembree
Updated: March 6, 2009
Zondervan publishing is attempting something that hasn't been done since the time of Gutenberg.

In celebration of the 30th year of the NIV Bible, they are driving across the country having people hand write the Bible.

31,173 people will be needed to write each of the 31,173 verses.

The journey is taking over half a year and includes 44 states.

Everyone who writes a verse will have their name in the index, along with the verse they wrote.

After it's completion the original is going to be offered to the Smithsonian and copies will be available for sale.
