Waiting Game for Quincy Carter

By: Austin Kellerman
Updated: March 6, 2009
The Abilene Ruff Riders hoped to announce today that former Cowboys QB Quincy Carter was joining the team.  However, a deal is yet to be reached.

Talks remain open as Carter seemingly deals with a recent arrest.  Authorities in the South Texas city of Mission said last week Carter failed to signal a right turn, and when a trooper pulled him over, he noticed bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.  He was arrested for drunk driving and possession of marijuana.

Carter was arrested in Irving in 2006 and in Shreveport, LA in 2007, both for possession of marijuana.

Ruff Riders General Manager Barney Welch told us immediately following the incident that it will force team management to take a closer look at its players.

Team officials hope to reach a deal with Carter in the next two weeks.
