$787 billion is a lot of money to keep track of. Some critics say it's nearly impossible.
That's where the web comes in.Several sites have been launched to follow the money trail. The first is backed by the Obama administration: www.recovery.gov. At this point, there aren't many hard, localizes stats about where money is going.
Texas launched it's own website, www.window.state.tx.us/finances/stimulus/. There, you'll find a document detailing where money might go, but this one does not break things down city by city.
Your best hope may be watchdog websites. We've found three of them: www.stimuluswatch.org, www.shovelwatch.org, and www.bailoutsleuth.com. They're trying to follow by cash flowing into all of America's cities. Still, at this point, you won't find much about Abilene. It's still to early in the game.
But keep tracking and hopefully soon we'll be able to see for ourselves where all the money is going.
