The former president of the Abilene Christian University Student Association is now speaking out.

Daniel Paul Watkins was removed from the position Wednesday night. The SA congress voted 25-5 in favor of impeaching him.

Students and faculty agree it was a tough decision on everyone. "I am extremely proud of the way our students conducted themselves," said Joel-Noel Thompson, VP of Student Life. "Again, regardless of who they were for or against in that particular situation."

However, Watkins tends to disagree. "I'm really disappointed. It really feels like a kangaroo court and a Mickey Mouse trial because I wasn't able to even hear the charges against me. I wasn't able to defend myself."

Watkins says this situation along with a noose being placed in his office last fall is more about someone's personal feelings against him.

"It feels like a concerted effort to remove me from office," said Watkins. "There's something else going on here that I don't fully understand right now. I hope to understand it better in the next couple of weeks."

Watkins is spending his Spring Break at home while thinking and praying about his next move.
