Abilene Woman Dies after Ram Attack

By: Laura Kellerman
Updated: March 9, 2009
An Abilene woman died Saturday from injuries she suffered two weeks ago from a sheep on her farm.

Mozelle Thomas, 88, was feeding her Barbado sheep, like the one pictured below, and went to look at the newborn lamb.  That's when a ram charged her and hit her in the chest, according to reports.

The medical examiner ruled her death an accident, and cited the cause as "complications of blunt force trauma of chest and abdomen."

Thomas was taken to the hospital in Abilene, then moved to Texas Health Fort Worth hospital a few days later.  That's where she died Mar. 7.
