Who doesn't love to celebrate a birthday?

The entire city of Abilene is invited to celebrate one birthday coming up.

Abilene will be celebrating it's 128th birthday this Saturday at the Downtown Dayz event, even though the actual birthday is march 15th 1818.

According to an old story, around a cowboy campfire at First and Walnut Street, the cowboys kicked around names of the town and they came up with Abilene because they wanted it to become another large cattle shipping point.

Abilene has certainly come a long way since cowboys around the campfire and has grown to a thriving city.

The shops and restaurants downtown are all involved in making it a successful birthday bash.

The party starts on Saturday the 14th at the Downtown Dayz event.
