"I finished my meal and I was going to pay. I looked at my wife and said, I think, I'm going to pass out," Walter Wheat describes his experience at Abuelo's restaurant, where he stopped breathing.

It was only moments later that three employees from Abuelos restaurant came to help a man in need. Jessica Shafer Grant, Courtney Henry, and Jeff Womble all participated in giving Walter Wheat CPR.

"I just got this really, really weird feeling in my stomach and I walked over there and luckily, Jay already had him ready to go on the ground and so just the basic instinct took in; open the airway and then make sure we can do this and then she said, are you ready to go? And I said, yeah...so she gave two breaths and I started to give compressions," Jeff Womble shared what he remembers from that day.

The ambulance arrived at Abuelos and took Walter to Hendrick Medical Center. The doctor's told Walter's wife, Dorris some shocking news while her husband was suffering from an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

"I doubt if he make it, he said. Normally only one in ten make it...I just fell apart, Dorris Wheat said.

A few hours passed by and things finally took a turn for the better. Walter came out of surgery and the doctor's told his wife, Dorris he was going to be alright.

"I call him my miracle man," Dorris said.

The three Abuelos employees are true heroes within our community, rising above and behind their restaurant duties to come to the help of a man in need.

"I doubt very seriously that I'd be alive today. That's why I continue to praise those three individuals as being my lifesavers my angels," Walter said.

Walter Wheat continues to get stronger and stronger each day and he hopes it won't be long before he and Dorris are camping in their RV and he's fixing up classical cars like he loves. He says he owes it all to the three Abuelos employees that saved his life.
