According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, over 70 children in Taylor County were put in substitute care. Jones County had only one.
Compared to 2007, those numbers have dropped dramatically.
However, in Callahan County, there was a slight increase, with 15 in 2008 compared to 13 in 2007.
The statistics show that in the past two years, removals have dropped almost 19% statewide.
