299 People Arrested during Spring Break

By: Maria Oliver
Updated: March 16, 2009
Less people were arrested in Abilene during spring break this year compared to last year.

With increased enforcement for the week, officers arrested 32 people for DWI and 33 people for public intoxication.  During spring break in 2008, those numbers were 38 and 33, respectively.  The cold and rainy weather may have been a factor for the decrease in arrests, said Sgt. Doug Wren, along with the fact that people knew police would be cracking down.

A total of 299 arrests were made during spring break week, many of which were part of the Great Texas Warrant Roundup.
