A local World War II survivor is reaching out to those in need in the community of Abilene.
Ewell Wilburn has a heart for those whose hearts need fixing.
That's why he started the volunteer program at the Hendrick Medical Center dubbed "Heart to Heart."
Since starting the program in 2004, Heart to Heart has grown to about nine to 12 volunteers, and Ewell says it's the response he gets from patients and families that makes Heart to Heart a success.
And for Ewell Wilburn, reaching out to others is the ultimate way to find personal fulfillment.
Wilburn says the Heart to Heart program is always looking to add volunteers.
