Census: Abilene Slowly Growing

 Those billboards around town touting "Abilene is Growing" aren't lying!

Slowly but surely, more people are moving to the Friendly Frontier.

Census Bureau stats out this week show a small population increase of the last year.

From July 2008 to July 2007, Abilene gained 365 residents or 0.2%. Since 2000, the city has actually lost 720 or 0.4%.

Brownwood's seem about the same growth. It gained 118 people over the last year or 0.3%. It's seen a 1.9% population spike since 2000.

Sweetwater added 329 people from July 2007 to July 2008. That's a 2.3% growth rate. However since 2000, the city's population has plunged 5.8%.
