Just before midnight, Officers with the Abilene Police Department Special Operations Division along with deputies of the Taylor County Sheriffs Department executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Ash Street in Merkel. A 26 year old white female and a 47 year old white male were found to be in possession of methamphetamine and the materials needed to manufacturing and package it. They were contacted less that 1000 feet from a school. Both subjects were arrested for possession of a controlled substance in a drug free zone.

At 2:00 this morning, Officer Hearn was called to the 1200 block of Sycamore for what was believed to be a disturbance. A 24 year old Hispanic male was passed out inside the residence. The other people inside the residence stated that they did not know him and wanted him to leave. He was highly intoxicated and arrested for public intoxication.

On Saturday, March 21st, Safety City is hosting a clay shoot to benefit phase one of their building project. This event will be held at Abilene Clay Sports. If you would like to participate, contact 676-6096 or go to www.abilenepolice.org.
