Plan Cuts Planned Parenthood Funding

The backers of the bill, Sen. Tommy Williams (R-The Woodlands) and Sen. Bob Duell (R-Greenville) said public funds should not go to a group that uses private money to fund separate abortion clinics.
Critics say the plan would confuse poor and uninsured Americans who rely on Planned Parenthood for contraception and health screenings for women.
The Senate Finance Committee has not approved the provision to the budget, and the House Appropriations Committee has not discussed it. Both the House and Senate would have to approve it.
