The Potosi Volunteer Fire Department spent the afternoon battling a control burn that quickly got out of control. Home owners out in Potosi were holding a control burn on their own property. However, when they stepped from the blaze, it quickly got out of hand. The residents say they only stepped away for a moment, but the Volunteer Fire Department had to be called. Even though, we are not under a burn ban, fire officials say when doing a controlled burn, exercising caution is key. Also keep in mind, volunteer fire departments are affected by high gas prices too when heading out to fires like these. They operate off of donations. If you would like to donate to your volunteer fire department you can contact them.
