The students and teachers at Abilene's St. John's Episcopal School gathered this morning for a special program.

The Proud to Be an American Week began this morning at the private school in southwest Abilene

Members of an Abilene boy scout troop and Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, Tony Marlowe participated in the patriotic ceremony, along with members of the 7th Logistics Readiness Squadron.

The program began this morning with a special prayer, along with the pledge and a singing of the national anthem and Amazing Grace around the school flag pole.

Teachers say they planned the event to remind the children of the opportunities and freedoms we enjoy in this country.
