This afternoon the Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union will donate nearly $100,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Abilene.

According to a news release, Credit union members who participated in the holiday Skip-A-Payment promotion contributed to this gift. Members could elect to skip one or two loan payments during the months of November, December and January for a fee of $10 for each month skipped. The entire fee was then donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs.

"Our membership looks forward all year to Skip-A-Pay," said ATFCU President James Boyd. "We're pleased to be able to make a substantial gift to an effective, hard-working organization. These funds are unrestricted so the Boys and Girls Club board can decide the best use for them.”

The presentation will be made during a celebration at Prime Time Family Entertainment Center on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. This is the sixth consecutive year that Abilene Teachers FCU has offered the end-of-year promotion. Nearly $400,000 has been donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs over the program’s short lifetime.
