The Buzz: Brahms Requiem

In celebration of Palm Sunday, several local churches are getting together to have a hundred voice choir, which will perform with a 40 piece orchestra one of music's most acclaimed pieces.
Throughout history, most requiem's focus on death, but in this piece written in the mid-1800s by Johannes Brahms, the German requiem focus on life.
It's a piece that has moved hundreds, and this performance is made all the more memorable by a special guest conductor, Donald Neuen.
Neuen serves as Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at UCLA, along with other prestigious positions.
He is joined on stage by nearly 100 Abilenian singers and a 40 piece orchestra.
A performance of Brahm's Requiem will take place this Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Abilene; admission is free.
