As the wind blew in it caused quite a bit of damage.

The tower field lights at Shotwell Stadium are orginal to the stadium, dating back to 1959, and in the past 50 years nothing like this has ever happened.

One of the giant lights out at Shotwell Stadium was knocked down sometime either last night or early this morning.

Specialists were brought in to take the light down, which crashed down on the outside fence and all electricity to Shotwell was cut off.

AISD says they plan on making whatever changes need to be made before football starts back next August.

All 8 lights were checked out back in 1997 after faulty wiring caused a black out right before an Abilene High game.

Back then, all the lights passed inspection.
