Updated: April 2, 2009
The Caterpillar corporation has announced round after round of worldwide layoffs this year, and Abilene is starting to take a hit.

Sources say about ten employees were laid off today from the local Warren Caterpillar dealer on Treadaway.

Warren has facilities across North and West Texas, as well as Oklahoma.  A company spokeswoman says over 80 people were laid off at the dealerships.

Worldwide, about 25 thousand Caterpillar employees have lost their jobs since the beginning of the year.

Caterpillar is the world's largest manufacturer of construction and mining machinery.
