One of the newest weapons in the war against termites is about the size of a sugar packet. It's a bait system called Sentricon.
It's a system that allows baiting to be put into the ground to work with mother nature for termite control without having to dump hundreds of liquid chemicals into the ground or dig up the foundation.
A few grams of pesticide, instead of gallons, is certainly easier on the environment.
The new system uses a rifle approach as opposed to a shotgun.
The stations are only put where they're needed.
That minimizes the impact on people, plants and animals.
It also results in a lot less groundwater contamination.
It was a switch that didn't turn off mother nature.
Sentricon is the only termite product to ever win the presidential green chemistry award.
It's one of the government's top environmental honors.
