She's a competitive teacher that challenges her students everyday and even gives up her weekends for math competitions across the state.

Carol Stringfellow says that her favorite part of teaching is keeping her students on their toes learning new things.

"Challenging students with new things that they haven't been taught before," said Stringfellow.

Her students agree with her,  they say she can be challenging but one student says it's a good thing.

"It's fun, it's a little challenging at times, but its good," said Gage Loflin, Wylie Junior High student.

He adds, he is better at math because of her.

"At the beginning it was really kind of hard for me but I got here, she made it easier."

Mrs. Stringfellow says she not only teaches her students, but she learns from them as well.

"You know, I have even 6th graders occasionally that think of things that I haven't thought of. I have one yesterday who came up with a way to do a problem, that I've never thought of, so even someone as young as a 6th grader, I've learned from."

Mrs. Stringfellow not only dedicates her weekdays to her students but also on the weekends when she takes them to math competitions.

"Some Saturdays we go to places to compete, competitions for  calculator, math, and number sense," said Frankie Beckendorf.

Mrs. Stringfellow, has trophies, metals, and awards to prove it.

"I know in the last three years, we have been first place in state twice and last year we were in second place," said Stringfellow.

Frankie says there are a couple of words to describe her.

"Above and beyond."

Congratulations to Mrs. Carol  Stringfellow from Wylie Junior High!
