Phone Scammers Targeting Seniors

By: Steve Abel, Better Business Bureau
Updated: April 9, 2009
Area folks over 60 are being targeted by a misleading telemarketing sales pitch. The telemarketer claims to have “found” several hundreds of dollars that belongs to the Senior Citizens. The telemarketer is in the process of “notifying” the victim about the return of their money. To accomplish the return of the money the crook needs the Bank Account number of the intended victim to complete the transfer.

The BBB advises never to disclose personal information to anyone who calls you. It is impossible to verify who the caller is or where they are located. The BBB advises caution if you receive one of these type of calls.
