Texas continues to hold top honors as a clean energy producer in the country and across the world. The American Wind Energy Association noted earlier this week about 2,700-megawatts of new wind power capacity came only last year bringing the total wind power generation for the state to 7,118-megawatts.
The state continues to hold the top spot as the nation's leader in wind power production and is also sixth largest producer in the world. While 2008 may have been a productive year for the industry, this year could be a different story. Currently there has been a slow-down in construction of new wind farms in the state due to the recession and the availability of lower fuel prices on the market.
