Twitter, tweeting; it's more than just words, but what is it?

In the company's own words Twitter is a free social messaging system for staying connected in real time.

Many of its millions of users, use it as a networking tool, while others just use it as a quick way to stay in contact with friends.

You can even use Twitter to follow KRBC's website, Big Country Homepage, as a way to stay up on breaking news right here in Abilene, or follow our weather team when West Texas weather takes a turn for the worst.

Twitter is a favorite site among celebrities.

In fact, Ashton Kutcher was in a race with CNN to see who could gain a million followers first.

Last night Kutcher became the first twitterer to have one million people following his tweets.

As the winner, he has promised to donate 10,000 mosquito nets in time for World Malaria Day, which is next Saturday.
