Colleen Bachus is obviously a dog lover, but she knows pet ownership shouldn't be taken lightly. That means picking up after her dog.
Bachus says, "Probably people are unaware of the millions of dogs that people own, especially in the larger cities. It's just part of being a responsible dog owner. You can just take it one step up to whenever you pick up your dog's waste to have that biodegradable bag."
Biodegradable waste bags are available at Colleen's store.
Some are made of plastic, and some are made of cornstarch.
The idea is to have them decompose more quickly in landfills.
When it comes to doggy doo bags, going green simply costs more.
The faster the bag breaks down, the more expensive it is.
A hundred regular garbage bags will cost you about seven dollars.
For that same seven bucks you only get 60 biodegradable plastic bags.
Cornstarch bags are even pricier: $10 for 50 bags.
While it may cost more, pet owners we spoke with say they're on board.
They say the cost is worth it.
