Abilene Midday Invades Facebook

 Abilene Midday launched Monday morning as the Big Countrys only interactive newscast. The new weekday broadcast is anchored by Brittany Pelletz with weather forecasting and "Facebook Feedback" segments from meteorologist Chris Whited.

The program will air Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. immediately following "Deal or No Deal" at 11:00 a.m. Abilene Midday will also be streamed live on bigcountryhomepage.com.

"We couldnt be more excited about this new project," said News Director Austin Kellerman. "Just as youve seen on CNN and other national broadcasts, well be turning to the internet to interactive with viewers and allow them to become part of the show."

Abilene Midday will utilize the social networking webste Facebook to allow viewers to have a voice in the show. Chris Whited will monitor peoples comments, status updates, and picture postings and share them throughout the broadcast. Whited will also post daily topics of discussion that allow viewers to give their comments.

"Most news viewers have opinions on what they see," said Kellerman. "This new show provides them the opportunity to give feedback on stories that interest them."

To become a friend of the show, just search "Abilene Midday" on Facebook and add the show as a friend.

In addition to feedback, Brittany Pelletz will keep viewers updated with the stories Abilene is buzzing about as well as topics to watch later in the day. Since joining KRBC in 2008, Pelletz has been a standout reporter. Shes expected to shine in this exciting new role.

Abilene Midday joins the revamped KRBC weekday news lineup featuring Abilene Today, First at Five, KRBC News at 6, and KRBC News at 10.
