Mimi Murphy: "Governor Romney, right now, Rockford has the highest unemployment rate in the state at 13 and a half percent. As President Romney what would you do to help the job situation?"

Governor Romney:, "I want to make America once again the most attractive place in the world for job creators, for businesses of all kinds. I want to get jobs growing again and I spent my life in the real economy so I know how that's done."

MM: "When you drive around Rockford and you've probably seen this across the country, gas prices are at or near $4 a gallon here. What would you do about that? "

Romney: "The President began with a policy of saying he wanted to see the energy price sky rocket and that's what's happening.  He's got a team of people who have put in place policies that make it harder and harder for us to take advantage of the energy resource we have in America. So I would drill for more oil and natural gas. Use our coal resources as well, develop our nuclear power. All these things create additional supply of product which helps hold down the price and by the way, keeps hundreds of billions of dollars in this country rather than sending it to places that often times don't like us very much."

MM:  "How has your experience in the private sector, how would that make you the right man for this job?

Romney: "I haven't just debated the economy. I haven't just studied it in school. I haven't just talked about it in a sub committee of Congress. I've actually lived in the real economy. I know why jobs go. I had the experience of starting a small business myself. I've had the experience of leading a large business that was in trouble. I led the Olympics, I lead a state. The experience of actually leading and guiding something in the private economy is desperately needed in Washington. We can't have 4 more years of an economic light weight."

MM: Governor Romney, Mrs. Romney, thanks so much for your time today...

Romney:  "Thanks Mimi, Good to be with you."
