(Rockford) -- A widespread problem with some Illinois ballots could mean a delay in official election results.

A vendor cut the ballots too big, by 1/16", so that many of the ballots would not fit in the vote tabulation machines. The votes will need to be counted by hand.

The problem was discovered in 65 counties, including Winnebago.

Winnebago County Clerk, Margie Mullins, wants to assure voters that every vote will be properly counted, saying, "We are going to have both party chairmen here, along with the people from the State's Attorney's office and the City's Election Board of Commissions. They're going to come and help us. We just want everyone to understand...this is a glitch, but we're going to take care of it."

Mullins says it could take up to ten days for the final election results to be finalized.
