Texas gas prices are stabilizing this spring.
Triple-A Texas spokesman Dan Ronan says at this time of the year, motorists usually see the "spring spike" in prices at the gas pump.
He says that isn't expected to happen this year as worldwide demand for oil and gas is at its lowest level in five-years.
Ronan says motorists are also doing a great job of conserving fuel.
The U.S. Department of Energy reports the total average daily fuel demand this spring is down more than five-percent compared to last year. The statewide average dropped one penny this week to $1.97-cents a gallon.
The most expensive gasoline in Texas is in Dallas at $1.98 a gallon, down about two-cents this week. San Antonio has the least expensive gasoline at $1.92, which is just two-tenths of a penny more than last week's average. Austin motorists are paying one-cent less at $1.96 a gallon, while Houston motorists are paying $1.95, also down about a penny.
Gas prices in Abilene range from as low as $1.85 to as high as $1.95, according to the gas tracker here on our website.
