Wind Affecting Big Country Drivers

"Thats probably on every truck drivers mind when its windy. They have to take that into consideration when they get behind the wheel,"Marc moore, driving trucks for 27 years said. A school bus driver passing through Abilene, heading for California had an unfortunate fate with the wind; sending her empty school bus on its side. "A bus loaded with students is really going to be less high-profile because of the weight, but again that unloaded bus, with a good West Texas wind; thats just an accident waiting to happen," State Trooper, Sparky Dean said. The wind likely played a role in the accident, but Sparky Dean also says, you cant just blame the West Texas wind. "Bottom line is,the drivers always responsible. The driver decided to drive in that windy condition," Sparky Dean added. The driver of the school bus was able to free herself from the bus without any serious injuries, but this accident is serving as a wake-up call to drivers in the community. "You just hope that the school bus driver, itself was just experienced enough to realize that but they are top-heavy, just like any truck. Very top-heavy. It doesnt take but so much wind to blow it right over," Marc Moore added. And for those operating large vehicles right here in the big country, Sparky Deans says we can all be be proactive, "when randy turner tells us, hey gusty up to 50-60-70 mph. We need to pay attention to it. Hes got great information. If well just eat it".
