Classes are canceled at Harlandale High School today after a former student made what officials say was a "credible" threat.
A spokesman for the district said police were called in around 6 p.m. and went to the 22-year-old former student's residence and he was taken into custody and turned over to a mental health facility.
ATF officers were asked to respond after the following firearms and related items were discovered in the suspects house:
- Two 9mm handguns
- 45 caliber handgun
- 25 magazines of ammunition
- Two pistol grip shotguns
- Shoulder strap w/ additional shotgun ammunition
- Bullet-resistant vest and helmet
- Written documentation about the Columbine High School and Virginia Tech shootings
The suspect is currently being held on a federal firearms violation and should be making his initial federal court appearance before Judge Pamela Mathy sometime today.
Regular classes will resume tomorrow.
