Classes are canceled at Harlandale High School today after a former student made what officials say was a "credible" threat.

A spokesman for the district said police were called in around 6 p.m. and went to the 22-year-old former student's residence and he was taken into custody and turned over to a mental health facility.

ATF officers were asked to respond after the following firearms and related items were discovered in the suspects house:
  • Two 9mm handguns
  • 45 caliber handgun
  • 25 magazines of ammunition
  • Two pistol grip shotguns
  • Shoulder strap w/ additional shotgun ammunition
  • Bullet-resistant vest and helmet
  • Written documentation about the Columbine High School and Virginia Tech shootings

The suspect is currently being held on a federal firearms violation and should be making his initial federal court appearance before Judge Pamela Mathy sometime today.

Regular classes will resume tomorrow.
