 Beverly and David Clyde are looking to update their bathroom, and with a limited budget, They decided to tackle the project themselves.

"We prefer not to spend any more money than we have to."

So, they're learning how to remodel on thier own in this class held at a hardware store.

Teachers in these hands-on clinics say the recession is driving more people than ever to strap on a tool belt.

"We've seen a steady increase week by week, says clinic teacher, Christopher Tyson. "With less money in everyone's pocket, of course they have to do things more themselves. They can't pay someone."

From tiling your home to installing a toilet, these classes teach you how to get the job done for less.

They're making a lot of people believers.

Tyson explains, "It gives people more of a sense of accomplishment when they can look at something and say 'hey, you know what, I did that. I fixed that. I installed it. I took care of it myself.'"

One word of warning from our experts: be careful.

Follow all the instructions and take safety seriously, using glasses and gloves when required.
