Brownwood Damage Not a Twister

By: Austin Kellerman/Chris Whited
Updated: May 10, 2009
Damage across Brownwood and Early Friday evening was not the result of a tornado. The National Weather Service posted the following message on its website Sunday:

"The town of Brownwood experienced widespread wind damage across the east central part of town. Wal-Mart, Kroger, Dollar General, and a few other businesses experienced roof damage. The roofs were peeled in a northeast to southwest direction. Some large oak trees were also blown over. This is also consistent with straight line winds of 80 to 85 miles per hour. We are thankful to the city fo Brownwood emergency management and the fire department for their assistance."
