Milwaukee mayor considers another run against Scott Walker

Milwaukee, Wis. (WFRV) Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says he is close to making a decision on whether to run against Governor Scott Walker in a possible recall election this summer.

The Democrat says he plans to make his decision sometime between March 30 and April 3. He says he wants to wait until after the Government Accountability Board orders a recall and before voters in Milwaukee vote for mayor to announce a decision.

The GAB plans to announce their decision on March 30 and the Milwaukee mayoral election is on April 3.

Barrett ran for governor in 2010, but lost to Walker.

Fellow Democrats Kathleen Falk and State Senator Kathleen Vinehout have already announced their plans to run. If Barrett does decided to run he will face off with the two other candidates in a May primary to see who will face Walker.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker faces a probable recall election after opponents collected an estimated one million signatures on recall petitions. He provoked the ire of state workers after he signed a state budget repair bill that restricted the collective bargaining ability of public-employee unions.
