This holiday weekend, the lakes in Texas will be full of families enjoying boating, fishing, and skiing.

If you haven't been on the lake recently, it might be time for a quick refresher course on Texas boating regulations.

In this week's On the Range, Sam Nichols has some boating safety reminders.

Game warden, Steve Medford reminds boaters that they must have a life-jacket on-board for everyone on the boat.

If the boat is 16 feet or over, there must be a throw-able device on board.

Also, Medford warns boaters to watch alcohol consumption because they will be looking for it due to a record number of fatalities in the last year.

Boaters must also make certain that have a horn or whistle on the boat in case of an emergency.

If you have any questions on boating regulations in Texas, contact the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
