(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) More than a dozen St. Joseph businesses came together on Thursday to back the $42 million school bond issue.

More than 15 business leaders met at Boehringer Ingelheim in St. Joseph to show their support for next Tuesday's ballot measure.

The bond would help pay to build two new elementary schools and add air conditioning to others.

Boehringer is the fifth largest employer in St. Joseph.

They felt it was important for their company to stand behind the bond.

"When we do have people come here to interview for jobs, we want to make sure that they have the opportunity to look at the schools in a very positive light and say this is the community I want to raise my children in, " Daniel Nowalk with Boehringer said.

Nowalk said he believes his children can receive a good education in St. Joseph and eventually a good career.
