Hardin met with Governor Beebe Monday morning shortly after the news that University of Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino had been injured in a motorcycle accident was made public. Beebe recalled how he learned about the incident and wished for a speedy recovery.
Beebe and Hardin also focused on state and national politics. Beebe elaborated on the results of a new poll that showed both Democrats and Republicans approved of the job he was doing. Beebe also discussed the presidential race and the possibility of Arkansas playing a factor in selecting a GOP candidate.
Governor Beebe also commented on new unemployment numbers that showed Arkansas is outperforming the nation when it comes to jobs but showed concern over the rising cost of higher education and what that might mean for the future.
As Beebe prepares to leave this week on his trip to China, the governor spoke in-depth about his goals for the trip and how China and Arkansas may be able to work together to better the economic future of the Natural State.
