A Political Profile - Pritchard vs. Woods

The political season in Northwest Arkansas is here, and one of the
hottest races is that for the Republican nomination of District 7's
State Senate seat.
Two men are racing for one spot. The incumbent, Bill Pritchard believed he was in the clear, running unopposed, but State Representative Jon Woods had other ideas.
Pritchard said, "This will be my final term due to term limits, and I just thought that this, my last term, being number one in seniority, that I would get to run without an opponent, but Jon's decided to run and that's the American way."
Woods said, "It's very untraditional, uncommon to have a House member challenge his state senator."
"It's very rare and I'm aware of that, but I'm doing it on good reason, and on voter records."
The primary election is still several weeks away, but for these two the gloves might not be coming off anytime soon.
Woods talked about one of his tactics saying, "Voters in Springdale, and in Johnson, and Tontitown, and Goshen and Elkins are soon going to see six billboards with my opponent's voting records on taxes."
Pritchard doesn't agree, "I don't think people want a negative campaign, but if that's what he chooses to do, I will not go negative, I will stay positive."
This race will be determined at the polls in May, but these two are set for a debate Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Arvest Ballpark.
