Many local senior citizens are no doubt relaxing tonight after a weekend of dining and dancing in Buffalo Gap. Abilene Regional Senior Circle's annual Senior Picnic brought hundreds of seniors to Perini Ranch.
It's an event local seniors look forward to each year.
"We're enjoying this beautiful picnic at perini's!"
"We enjoy the community," says ARMC Chief Nursing Officer, Barbara Taylor, "and we enjoy allowing a fellowship among other seniors, to allow a support for each other and to present the programs that Abilene can help with."
Folks from Abilene Senior Centers enjoyed a night of dining and dancing, entertainment that keeps seniors coming back year after year.
"We wouldn't miss it. The band, the good food, it's so beautiful!" says regular attendee, Sue Samford.
Medical center nursing staff served seniors at the event, which gave Abilene Regional staff a chance to see patients in a different light.
"We are actually communing with some of our patients," Taylor says, "some that I've seen in the E.R., some that we saw last year and helped take care of. Our directors are seeing patients that we see on a daily basis, and it's a great, great fun evening."
That was the response many seniors had at the picnic before kicking off their dancing shoes and calling it a night.
There were about 350 seniors in attendance.
