CARTHAGE, MO -- The Jasper County Jail becomes the first in Missouri to install state-of-the-art technology.

It will help deputies cut down on the time it takes to prosecute offenders

It's called "Multi-biometric Identification and Facial Recognition."

It allows deputies to receive information by scanning the iris of a person's eye.

That information can then be shared with other Missouri agencies.

Jasper County also purchased a license plate reader.

The machine consists of four cameras placed on top of the patrol cars.

It allows officers to quickly detect stolen vehicles or those wanted for major crimes.

Sheriff Dunn says the new technology is made possible through different grants and the law enforcement sales tax.
