Senior prom: one of high school's most memorable events.

A senior prom in Abilene took place over the weekend, and we're not talking about high schoolers.

Who says prom is just a "blast from the past"?

"The idea of being able to attend the prom again," exclaims prom attendee, Earthel Bowles.

That's the theme of the second annual senior citizens prom at G.V. Daniels Senior Center.

"We seldom see each other in a manner like this," says Billy Glover, a local senior. "... here its a different atmosphere. Its one of personal expression and enjoyment."

As with almost any prom, the night came with dinner, a DJ, and a whole lotta dancing.

"I've never been able to attend one," says Genette Edmond, "so this time we are here and its beeen quite enjoyable."

And what prom is complete without a prom king and queen.

The prommers danced the night away; a true senior prom, showing these G.V. Daniels seniors still know how to get down.

The Senior Citizens prom was sponsored by the Carver Youth Council.
