From smart phones to GPS systems, technology is ever-changing these days.

It can be a challenge for anyone to keep up, but it's especially trying for senior citizens.

In a society where CDs and beepers are things of the past, staying up to speed with technology is no easy task.

Barbara Cooley still struggles to use to laptop her grandkids gave her for her birthday and that's something that concerns her.

"I just really haven't ,mastered it yet, you know," says Cooley, and I'm just now getting into cell phones like I should."

But, other local seniors have no problem being far behind technology trends.

88-year-old Marie Whetsel isn't letting her lack of knowledge of today's technology slow her down.

"Well, I'm still able to work in the yard," Whetsel says, "... I'm still able to drive. How 'bout that?"

Gadgets are getting smarter, fast.

Keeping up is a challenge for almost anyone, but local seniors aren't letting technology get the best of them.

Some cell phone companies now market more user-friendly products specifically designed for senior citizens.
