Trash to Treasure

When driving by the Abilene recycling center on Oak street you might drive by think youre looking at a pile of trash but if you take a closer look you will notice it is recycled glass that can be put to many different uses. The glass can become many different materials after being recycled, including a fine like hair material. This thin piece of glass is used as the last layer on the blade of a wind turbine in order to strengthen it. At this very plant the glass is brought to the consistency of sand and transported to many beaches along the Texas coast. Artist have even hand picked their way through the piles of glass in order to find the perfect addition to there final masterpiece. The machine located at the Abilene recycling plant that makes this all possible was the first of its kind in the state Texas making this valuable glass very accessible to the residents of the Big Country. If you ever feel like turning another persons trash into your very own treasure then stop by the City of Abilenes Recycling Plant and pick up your glass today.
