KTAB Going Green: "The Park People"

By: Kailey Franz
Updated: August 6, 2009
There are many city parks in Abilene but a group called the Park People are doing all they can to introduce pocket parks to the community as well.

The group has already completed Friendship Park located on the corner of Meander Street and Vine Street. The park is fully furnished with donated items such as picnic tables, plants, bird baths, and trees.

The group works off of donations alone. Everything right down to the water used to irrigate the park is donated.

The Park People have visions of turning various plots of land into gardens, baseball parks and even dog parks.

The group feels strongly about catering to the community and making Abilene a beautiful place.
